Who We Are

Kee-Chanona is a leading regional construction expert operating with integrity and prompt delivery on commitments.

ABOUT US

With Kee-Chanona Limited (KCL) still led by its founding members, we consider our employees and clients as part of the family too. The communal atmosphere fostered, both in the corporate office and on the job site, is why more than half of our management team has been with us for at least 10 years.

Combined, our management has over 300 years of experience, setting us apart from other commercial construction companies in the Caribbean. Our diversity is both encouraged and celebrated—over the years, we have employed nationals of Europe, Asia, North, and South America, beyond just our fellow CARICOM countries. We are gender diverse with women and men having similar opportunities for resources and promotions. At KCL, we select the best candidate for the job and aim to lead by example.

Our leadership sets the tone for how employees treat our clients and each other. Integrity, excellence in quality, and client satisfaction are our guiding principles of doing business, and we pledge to provide clients with superior construction services in a safe and enjoyable work environment. Our reputation and employee character are paramount.

Safety also isn’t just first—it’s omnipresent in everything we do at Kee-Chanona. Our zero-tolerance safety stance ensures the health and safety of our employees, subcontractors, and clients. Beyond simply ‘meeting code’, comfort, and productivity, we implement strict protocols that have earned us superior ratings and Safe-To-Work (STOW) certification. Striving towards a zero-injury work environment is part of our company’s proactive philosophy.

As a result, clients have become our biggest advocates, and our reward is personal referrals. With every construction project led by Kee-Chanona, clients’ needs are held in as high of a regard as critical deadlines, building codes, and more. It’s that commitment to client satisfaction that’s allowed our success as a leading regional construction expert in the Caribbean.

Our History

Where we began

Kee-Chanona Ltd. (KCL) was incorporated in Trinidad and Tobago on 13 November 1987; its registered address is Corner Warren & Smart Streets, St. Augustine. The three founding members of the company were Andrew Chin Yuen Kee, Thomas Chanona and Anthony Labban. At that time Trinidad & Tobago was at a low point of the economic recession of the 80’s. When the construction company with which the trio was employed elected to close their operations; these three took the bold and risky decision to open a new construction company, Kee-Chanona Limited.

Despite the untimely demise of the first General Manager, Andrew Chin Yuen Kee during the first year of the company’s existence, his surname continued as part of the amalgam that forms the company’s name. Today, Thomas Chanona functions as the Chief Executive Officer with Anthony Labban assuming the role of the Contracts Manager.

Our Mission

To be the leading contracting firm in the regional construction industry

  • To achieve consistent annual growth whilst expanding regionally and growing our local market share.
  • To continue to be a high performance organisation through the attraction, retention and motivation of skilled resources and appropriate partnerships.
  • To employ best practice, while maintaining a safe and sustainable environment.
Our Future

Where we're headed

In the past 36 years of Kee-Chanona, our company has earned a reputation as one of the major building contractors operating in Trinidad & Tobago, which is where our headquarters are located. We’ve broadened the scope of our work to be Caribbean-inclusive, with an average annual construction turnover of USD $50M.

Collaboratively, our current staff of 46 today has served key stakeholders of the construction industry, allowing us to continue serving private and public sector clients. As the industry evolves, so does Kee-Chanona.

Quality plans tailored to each project continue to guide our critical design elements, details, and challenges, made possible by new technologies, advancements, and techniques. We leverage virtual construction, field tests and verifications, functional mock-ups, and third-party design reviews to streamline budgeting, bidding, and building. And we’re always pursuing progress because quality construction begins with quality planning.

Anticipating and mitigating hazards and risks has earned Kee-Chanona company multiple awards, including “Service Exporter of the Year” (2015) and Contractor of the Year Award for “Exemplary Performance” (2001). Harmonizing the client’s goals, the architect’s vision, and the feasibility of construction, our goal at Kee-Chanona remains simple: project success.
